bornburden:

DEAD! ok i’m not good at wording headcanons because i never know where to start, but Lucien’s personality/interests is heavily dependent on who he is hanging around and befriends. When he was a child, around his time of adoption to when he was in sixth grade, Lucien followed after his dad, being ( for the most part ) kind and considerate, an open-minded and helpful kid, his few friends at school were like that, as well. He was rather shy and had never been that good at making friends, so he didn’t have any heavy influences or large groups of people to take after.
By the time he hit sixth grade/middle school, his peers changed around him, and he complied with the changes, willing to fit in ( but was also extremely needy and DESPERATE to feel unique ) and quickly found himself befriending people who considered themselves as ‘gamers’ and ’otakus’, and quickly slid into that friend group, starting arguments online and using broken japanese in conversation at one point. Damien, curious and supportive, got into some anime with his son and became attached as Lucien was at the time. Around this time, symptoms of Lucien’s Major Depressive Disorder began to show and he began acting out more, getting upset sporadically, and locking himself in his room for days at a time, just watching whatever he could pirate and download.
About halfway though sophomore year, Lucien began to realize that the weeaboo culture wasn’t really ‘in’ anymore, and found himself in a group of people that he found increasingly like-minded to himself, rebellious students who had taken up the Gothic lifestyle that had reminded him of his dad, and changed his whole wardrobe to accumulate with how his new friends looked. With encouragement and peer pressure ( mixed with his increasingly OBVIOUS depression ), against his own better judgement, Lucien began to rebel against his father and began failing his classes, skipping to smoke weed, drink, party, and vandalize property, becoming snarkier and blatantly moodier.

This leads to head to him starting college, again losing the majority of his friends to a lack of genuine interest in each other, rather turned off by their shallowness ( as the majority of the money they all shared ALWAYS ended up going to weed & they always seemed to contact him when they WANTED some (hence, he started carrying Oregano) ), he attempted to try out the Trad Goth aesthetic on his own, it lasted barely half a ( LONELY ) semester before he grew bored, and dropped the majority of his look, kept his piercings, grew his hair out, & covered up his shitty stick-and-poke tattoo with a professionally-done tattoo of a bat ( to think of his father ) and began dressing more casually, for comfort, hanging out in the common area of his dorm and befriending people he wouldn’t of looked twice at when he was younger. By this point, Lucien would be properly medicated and probably trying to make up for all the crap he put people through in his youth.
He still isn’t perfect and lacks a true sense of stability, but he’ll eventually get SOMEWHERE.
