in conjunction with @bornburden​‘s earlier post, this is about damien’s decision
            to name his son lucien darvell bloodmarch. after doing a bit of research
            i came to the conclusion that damien named his son in such a way that it tells 
            the story of his life. 

            the middle name, darvell, is really the start of it all, inspired by the literary muse
            augustus darvell from lord byron’s ( george gordon byron ) unfinished story, 
            ‘ the fragment ‘. it’s a story from the perspective a narrator following the life of 
            a rich and elderly man, augustus darvell, up until his death and burial. byron’s 
            original idea involved darvell returning to life as a creature of the night. this idea
            was picked up and completed by writer polidori in his novella ‘ the vampyre ‘. 
            ‘ the vampyre ‘ was recorded as the first known literary representation of 
            vampirism in 1819. 

            this ‘ rebirth ‘ in a sense is represented in the name lucien, which translates 
            roughly to light. lucien represents the light of darvell being reborn, much like 
            damien was reborn into the father figure he always wanted to be. lucien is also
            the light of damien’s life in that he’s a reminder that there are things in this world
            that truly embody the idea and concept of love, such as the way damien loves 
            his son.
